IE9RC一大新功能就是"跟蹤保護"，該新的隱私功能提供了一種新的選擇參與機制來
識別並阻止許多不必要的Cookies、網路信標（WebBeacon）、廣告、跟蹤代碼等。跟
蹤保護的清單可以共用至網路。
跟蹤保護是通過使用者創建網站清單來防止其他網站通過Cookies等方式來跟蹤使用者
隱私。微軟希望技術愛好者能帶頭創建一些清單，並等到IE9正式版發佈之時分享給
廣大使用者。微軟也曾承諾不會有預設清單，但現在IE9RC的樣本清單中包含了阻止
GoogleAnalytics的項，不過該清單預設沒有啟用。
微軟第二項新的安全改進就是ActiveX控制項的阻止。InternetExplorer9RC包含
一項「ActiveX篩檢程式」選項，允許使用者在流覽時關閉ActiveX物件。不過，該功
能很基礎，沒有提供針對每個網站的需啊向，只有開啟或關閉。
